Restorative Care to Treat Dental Damage
Damaged teeth can impact your oral health. With crowns and onlays, we can craft a natural-looking crown or onlay that works with your natural teeth. We also provide aesthetic crowns to change the appearance of just 1 or 2 teeth.
Visit Cooper Dental in downtown Calgary and let us craft a solution for you.
Crowns and Onlays: What’s the Difference?

Crowns and onlays have similar functions, but cover different amounts of the natural tooth. Crowns cover the tooth’s entire surface and reach down to the gumline, while onlays leave more of the natural tooth uncovered.
Crowns, also known as caps, can restore a damaged tooth to better function, shape, and appearance. As the name suggests, a crown is a hollow artificial tooth that can fit over and adhere to the existing broken or discoloured tooth.
Onlays are similar to crowns, but they don’t cover the entire tooth. We usually use onlays when some of the cusps on an affected tooth are still intact. They leave more of the natural tooth exposed.
